Which is better lens between canon 100mm macro and canon 85mm?
Own: 350D, canon 10-22mm, 50mm 1.8, kit lens 18-55.
Hello, I just want a new mid range lens for a portrait as my xmas gift.
I look at 3 lens:
canon 85mm f1.8
canon 100mm f2.8 macro
canon 70-200 L f4
The price wont issue for me between the three.
Q1
Why 85mm 1.8 is better than 100mm f2.8 macro?
Length roughly the same and I would not go any where lower that f4 to ensure a sharpness so what is advantage of getting 85mm over 100mm, plus with 100mm i can use macro.
Q2
How the Image quality compare to 70-200 L f4?
Q3
How about the IQ compare to 50mm f1.8 compare to 100mm and 85mm?
As length is not my problem (in fact l love 50mm) so should i keep on saving up for a L lens??
Q4 What would you get between three?
canon 85mm f1.8
canon 100mm f2.8 macro
canon 70-200 L f4
Thanks
Sorry i forgot to mention i want the mid-range portrait.
I'm a Nikon guy my point of view is:
the 50mm and the 85mm are about the same, excellent sharpness, great for low light, only difference is the focal length, most pro prefer the 85mm for portraits but you already have the 50mm so why not get the 100mm macro instead? these are all great lenses, you won't really notice a big difference in image quality.
if you already have 10-20mm 50mm and 18-55mm, I'd definitely get the 70-200 f/4 for a good range from 10mm all the way to 200mm but it depends on your shooting style, none of these are macro lenses, if you think you don't need a long zoom get the 100mm f/2.8
